TBT to ’93: The Prime Team Remembers

Written by Sara Biren

Prime’s yearlong 25th Anniversary celebration continues with a trip back in time to the year it all began – 1993. We dug deep into the archives for photos that capture the essence of the early nineties, from spiral perms and backwards baseball caps to denim overalls and plaid flannel. TBT to ’93: The Prime team remembers.

Shauna Smart

Shauna was in high school (Go Tigers!). She spent most of her free time with friends, at school sports events, or babysitting. Shauna never missed Beverly Hills, 90210 or Melrose Place, and loved Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, and Aerosmith. Sleepless in Seattle won her romantic teenage heart.

Robert Etienne

Robert went back to school for design and illustration while working in a frame shop.

Sara Biren

Sara lived the good life at Junction Apartments at the University of Minnesota, Duluth. She studied English, political theory, and women’s studies, bought tons of CDs, and obsessively watched rom-coms like The Cutting Edge and Untamed Heart with Marisa Tomei and Christian Slater.

Terri Sharp

Terri was working at Prudential and taking care of her kids.

Allison Benson

Allison was busy being a farmer’s kid. She loved being in the field with her grandpa and dad. Allison’s days were usually spent with her mom and younger sister, cooking, running to and from the field, playing pretend, and collecting rocks. Her favorite thing to do was playing outside with her big sister.

Aaron Marple

Aaron (far right) graduated high school in 1993. Most of his senior year was spent teaching pottery to 10th & 11th graders and hanging out at Wayzata beach.

Taylor Brown

Taylor was obsessed with every dog she saw. Not much has changed…

Megan Huizel

Megan moved to Maple Grove from Iowa. She quickly made friends in the new neighborhood.

Natalie Walseth

Natalie was celebrating her first St. Patrick’s Day (also her birthday) and putting effort into growing more hair.

Thanks for joining us on our trip down memory lane! Check back for more Prime25 celebrations!
