The City of Maple Grove is again teaming up with Prime Advertising for the Maple Grove Moments photo contest, which recognizes and highlights photography talent right here in the community. This is an invitation for residents to capture Maple Grove and share what the city means to you through ordinary and extraordinary images.
HOW TO ENTER
Photographers can focus their lens on the following categories and submit up to 12 entries – three per category – total.
- Going Together: people doing everyday things in everyday settings
- Going Natural: landscapes, trees, weather and sky, and flowers and plants
- Going Wild: critters and animals, including pets
- Going Places: landmarks, cityscapes, and events
- Youth: photographers under age 18 can submit entries for any of the categories above
Entries are accepted through noon on Tuesday, July 14, 2020. All photos must be taken in Maple Grove by the person submitting them, and pictures from all four seasons are appreciated. Images should be in jpeg format and any that include logos, watermarks, or copyrights are not accepted. Visit the City of Maple Grove’s website for category-specific links to submit photos.
Photographs submitted are posted on the City of Maple Grove website, and all photo entries are eligible to be featured in city-wide communications.
SELECTING THE WINNERS
Entries are judged on overall impression, subject matter, originality, technical skills, composition, and meeting the theme of the category. Judges also appreciate creative photo captions.
Two ways to win:
- Judge’s choice: photos selected by local media and photographers.
- Viewer’s choice: the entry receiving the most online votes. During the contest, the public votes for a favorite photo through the portal on the city’s website. One vote per day is allowed.
First, second, and third place prizes are awarded in each category as well as one viewer’s choice winner. Prize amounts range from $25 to $100. Winning entries are published in the City Focus newsletter, showcased on city social media, and displayed at the Maple Grove Government Center.
