The World Wide Web and the nature of web design are constantly evolving and changing. Staying up-to-date on website layout and design is critical, as each of these are linked to functionality and user friendliness. Our designers and staff work hard to stay on top of current trends and best practices, so that the sites we design offer our clients – and their customers – that “WOW” factor!

In fact, one of our favorite moments around Prime is a website reveal. After our designers have worked their creative magic, our team meets with the client to “reveal” their fresh, new website design.

Looking for ways to update the look and functionality of your website in 2017? Here are a few 2017 web design trends:

  1. High-quality Authentic Photography

We will continue to see a decline in cheesy stock photos in 2017, as authentic photography is more trusted and looks better with design. It is about choosing images that provide a sense of texture, size, context and brand. Over 60% of online shoppers said high quality images are a very important part of their purchase decision, which was a higher percent than product information or reviews. Using high-quality images or utilizing a skilled photographer are on the rise this year!

  1. Fluid Designs

Websites are becoming more and more fluid with their designs across multiple devices. From mobile to desktop to iPad to TV, responsiveness continues to be a high priority when it comes to creating a unified experience for all types of users.

  1. Immersive Story-Telling Style

Using high quality images, videos, social media, maps and other components connects consumers to a brand. Storytelling and custom-designed websites draw viewers in, keep them on the page, and help the reader retain more of the information.

  1. SEO

The forefront of our web design and development process at Prime is search engine optimization (SEO). We understand that a beautiful website is only relevant if customers can find it. We build websites using the latest web technology, following standards set by Google and other large search engines for optimal search ranking potential.

  1. More Movement

Video backgrounds, animations, cinema graphs (still images with moving parts that bring the photo to life) and the parallax effects are all part of unique website development.  Embracing the latest techniques builds a website that is visually appealing.

  1. Color

The use of bold and bright colors make a statement. The flat design and semi flat design trend that creates a minimalistic look go perfectly with bold colors. Color transitions are also one of the biggest trends right now and it is happening everywhere! For example, Instagram decided to changed their logo from a flat color to multi-colored. Talk about a pop of color!

  1. New Navigation Structures

Navigation is becoming more simplified, not glued to the top like most standard websites. Some trends include: pop out styles, mega navigation, single page dot navigation, hidden navigation and our website done for Studio 220 Photography with bottom navigation.

  1. Split Screen Content

This design trend shows the viewer several equally important messages on one single page. It is useful for responsive structures and is expected to continue to grow!

2017 has been an exciting year for website design. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the year brings. Let us show you at your very own Prime Advertising website reveal!
