The perception that mobile internet users are the exception is outdated, and in 2013, if your website is not catering to those that are viewing it from a mobile device or tablet, you’re missing out on larger percentage of customers than you think. It’s time to think Responsive.

What is responsive?

A responsive website is built to automatically adjust in format and design, depending on the size of the screen the website is viewed with. The desktop version would include all of the bells and whistles, while the tablet may re-format to larger blocks of images or buttons, and the mobile to an even simplified version for easy navigation.

This is also the time to consider the different customer experiences that visitors are looking for, depending on their screen size. People using their phone’s internet browser are looking for a different experience than those with a large, desktop or laptop screen. So what are the differences between a mobile visitor and a desktop visitor?

Desktop vs Mobile Internet Users

Mobile users on an internet browser are looking to:

  • Find an address or phone number for quick directions or contact
  • Getting information based on their location (nearby stores, restaurants or events)
  • Get coupons to use at local businesses
  • Check weather or news
  • Product or purchase research
  • Design-Wise: Large buttons & text, simple navigation & layout

Desktop users have the ability to engage all of the elements included in a full website, read more content, access documents and informational material quickly and complete the purchase process with more ease. All of these tasks are done over a longer period of time, as desktop users spend close to twice as much time on a given website than a mobile user would.

Provide your different website users with the experience they are looking for. Prime Advertising and Design specializes in the custom design and development of responsive websites for local Minnesota businesses and national companies.
