Agency Collaboration

Today the Prime Web Team met with the owners of a Twin Cities Bar & Restaurant on the redesign of their website. The owners of the restaurant have been working with a graphic design agency for quite a while now to develop a solid branding image that they obviously want to carry into the new website.

At first I was a little nervous as to what our role was going to be for this project.  Were we just going to do the programming side?  Were we going to have to just roll with whatever they designed?

Their design agency brought in some great examples of how they envisioned the look and feel would be for the new site.  They did an awesome job on the initial mocks, I really dig their designer’s ideas.

Well I had a huge sigh of relief when they told us that they were really open to our ideas on how to make their designs even better and at the same time function correctly on the web.  They respected our knowledge of web design and development and were really willing to work (I’m guessing outside of their norm) with us to make the best possible product.

I was so pumped to see this willingness to collaborate, lots of times you don’t see other designers or programmers that are open to new and different ideas.

I’m a strong supporter of collaboration on client projects, even if its internally I still want as many ideas and suggestions that I can get before I start on a design.

I feel with their branding knowledge and our many years of web development success that we’re going to create a site that the client loves and finds great value in.

I really hope that this practice of collaboration between agencies, team members, managers…etc is something that everyone uses on a regular basis.  We strongly encourage it at Prime and it’s been a huge part of our success.

I look forward to the collaboration from both agencies, I guarantee it’s going to be a great experience for not only me and my team but for the everyone involved.
