Viral Marketing Hit For Office Max - The Dancing Elf Yourself
Office Max has made splash with their Elf Yourself viral campaign for the 2007 Holiday season (an encore performance). I think I have received 7 or 8 different emails from this site now with everything from my wife and I dancing to co-workers. Office Max created a very simple to use flash interface for uploading up to four photos, face cropping tools and the ability to email the link out to friends. You can see Allison, Stephanie and Alicia from the sales department here at Prime dancing away.
Office Max’s viral efforts here have also been featured on national and local TV, internet news sites, blogs, other mediums and of course have appeared in millions of email inboxes. Not a bad amount of bang for the buck. Lesson learned: Get creative, do more than just market with a "buy now" attitude and find a way to have some fun and give your customers some fun.

My family has already elfed itself. It is cute, creative, and a way for people to have some fun and laugh at themselves.
Aaron, you and your wife are tearing it up!
I sent the elf yourself greeting to a few friends out west that I don’t get a chance to talk to that much. It’s definitely a fun way to send holiday wishes…
I love the elves!!! Glad they’re back. I wish you could take your Elf video and turn them into flip books that you can then send to friends. Now THAT would be cool!
Great post!
