5 Tips For A Better Website Using Photos
Last week I posted about video being an awesome tool for your website, but lets take a look at it’s basic brother, the digital photo.
Below are just 5 tips on how photos can upgrade your website and improve your visitors experience.
1. More is better. The web is visual, give as many photo examples as possible to any and all of your products or services. Text is boring, shoot photos that accompany your content to build a more solid picture.
2. Make it easy. Create easy to use photo galleries so users can see a collection of photos, here are a few examples:
-Mouse over photo gallery
-Lightbox photo gallery
3. Be unique. Stop using stock photos! If you’re promoting yourself, your business, your service … then feature your stuff in the photos.
4. Increase your sources. Arm your team or employees with a few digital cameras. For $200 you can get a lot of camera. Get your employees to snap some shots while out in the field, start a "before and after" gallery if it applies … get them realizing the value of visuals.
5. Learn to take better photos. Just leveraging the basics of angles and lighting can raise your photos to a fantastic level. If you have no interest in that, then hire someone. A great photo can be used many times over on many different marketing tools. You get your money’s worth and more.

Great tips, Aaron! Thanks for the post. I like the photo gallery idea.
I am trying to design a website and I like your idea of the mouse over photo gallery. Can you tell me how to do this? Also the lightbox gallery instructions? Thanks so much for the help. Also, can these be protected against uploading?
Pat- Glad you liked it. Seems odd, but photos are still so underutilized for small business websites.
Margaret- Luke from our web squad will drop you an email on these galleries, hopefully that will help. Thanks for reading.
