Monday Link Menu: Blogs for 4.23.07

I thought I would put some focus on blog commenting today.  Participating on blogs by commenting on the posts are of great benefit to both commenter and blogger.

For the blogger, it gives them feedback on their thoughts and post; good, bad or indifferent … it really builds the conversation and the value of the post.  I have often learned just as much, if not more, from the string of comments and the information the commenters share and link to.

For the commenter, it builds confidence, makes for new contacts and opens your own mind.  It can also build your blog’s or website’s traffic from your linked name.  Many blogs are jumping on the no-follow bandwagon (we will shortly too).

We’ve all heard it before … you get more out of anything when you put in more … and that applies especially for blogging and commenting.

  1. Hi there, love your blog!

I’ve been thinking of jumping on the “no follow” bandwagon myself, but I’m concerned about the potential for blog spamming if I do - are you planning to require approvals for comments before you move to that model, or are you not worrying about it - or how are you handling it?

    Keep up the great blog!

  2. Thanks Caroline, I think we will be installing a WP plug-in requiring some type of human element Q & A … like “What is 4 plus 2?” to weed things out. Other than that the Akismet plug-in for WP provide some great filtering … I would say 95% of our comment spam is caught by that plug-in. Where in MN are you?
