The Blog Population Grows & Grows & Grows

If you’re a numbers and charts person, you will love checking out Technorati’s quarterly Sate of the Blogosphere posts and the last one has expanded to be called The State of The Live Web and include social media data. For the full current report, click here or see the history of all State posts since 2004 by clicking here.

Here are the highlights I wanted to pass along:

    • Technorati is now tracking over 70 million weblogs, and they’re seeing about 120,000 new weblogs being created worldwide each day. That’s about 1.4 blogs created every second of every day.  WOW!

    • The number of blogs has doubled in the last 320 days from 35 million to 70 million.

    • Of the top 100 most popular websites on the Internet, 22 are blogs, up from 13 in 2006.

    • There are 1.5 million blog posts per day, averaging 17 posts per second.

  1. Very interesting read / thanks for the link. I was surprized to find out that it isn`1t English, which is the main blogging language. Was also interesting to see the spread of postings over a 24hr period.
