High Rankings SEO Seminar: Day 2 & Final Summary

I apologize to you faithful Monday Link Menu peeps, but I needed to complete the summary of the High Rankings SEO Seminar that Jeff and I attended last Thursday and Friday.  You can read the day one recap below this one.

Day two started with Matt Bailey offering up some "cool tools" for diagnosing your website problems.  While Matt offered many helpful sites and methods for diagnosing possible website issues regarding search engine optimization and conversion … rule #1 was "Don’t Panic", a true classic.

In the afternoon Scottie Claiborne went through basic website usability and SEO practices and then moved into evaluating websites that belonged to members of the audience.  I would bet that 50% of the room wanted to have this group audit, but we only had time to get to a few.  Expanding on the time to get in those who wanted to be reviewed would be a great tweak to the seminar.  If good SEO involves analytics and measurement, then a good seminar involves having a clear definition of where you (or your website) is at.

Overall, I would recommend the High Rankings seminar to anyone, especially those with beginner to intermediate SEO knowledge.  They do a fantastic job of moving you up the SEO knowledge ladder at a steady pace.  The two days was worth the money/time for Jeff and I and cemented much of our current strategies but also brought some new elements to our process.  The speakers in Minneapolis were all high energy, full of info and presented well.  Having them at your table for lunch to focus on more specific questions was a great bonus you won’t find at larger venues.  I would have liked to see more site reviews as mentioned, but also time focused on attendee interaction as there was plenty of knowledge and experience to be shared in the room as well.

Good SEO is about executing 20+ different elements correctly, not any one magic trick, easy button or secret weapon.  The High Rankings crew provided great information and put the ball in our court, to get out there and put things into practice.
