Location, Location, Location: Your Customer is Local
I’m borrowing from the real estate industry a bit with that title, but the truth is that internet marketing continues to grow at the local level by leaps and bounds. It’s something we talk about plenty here at Prime as we produce both a print format of Official Community Guides for 26 Minnesota cities and a local community portal for those communities, MyPrimeGuide.com.
Chris Chanksi, our new Vice President of Business Development put an article across my desk yesterday from Entrepreneur Magazine titled Go Local. It was their cover story and talks about the increase in local internet advertising, from directory sites to local search. None of this is news to me, but it’s always interesting to see when the buzz trickles down to more business owners and the general public and starts to gain traction. The big dogs (Google, Yahoo) are releasing more and more features into their Local products and users are starting to catch on. Integrating maps, user reviews and local sources, they are aiming to become a trusted source for local information. I still have yet to have a client walk into a meeting and ask to be a top result in Google Local, but that time is coming.
With MyPrimeGuide.com, we offer both directory advertising and banner advertising to the local communities we publish in. It’s a great combination of both branding and targeted marketing to the local market and it’s residents. The options are all great values with numerous benefits, so make sure you ask your Prime Guide marketing rep about local online advertising. These tools have the most success when used together in strength. Combining the guide publication, with MyPrimeGuide, with other local net marketing builds a strong network.
In addition to the Entrepreneur article, here is a great Local Search blog post from Graywolf with links to numerous local search posts.
